Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Studr – AI Notetaker mobile app and the website at studr.app (together, the "Service"), provided by Muhammad Mustafa ("Service Provider", "we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or 16 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable digital-consent age). If you are under the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, you must have your parent or legal guardian's permission. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

2. Account & Security

You create an account using Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity that happens under your account. Notify us at support@studr.app if you suspect unauthorized access. You must provide accurate information and keep one account per person.

Rooting or jailbreaking your device is strongly discouraged, as it can compromise security and break functionality.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.

4. Recording Laws

Recording lectures, conversations, or meetings is regulated differently in different jurisdictions and institutions. Some require all-party consent; others have specific rules about recording at universities. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right and any institutional permission required to record before using Studr's recording features. The Service Provider is not liable for recordings you make in violation of applicable laws or your institution's policies.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you upload (audio, files, images, YouTube URLs, chat input) and the AI-generated output derived from it (transcripts, summaries, flashcards, quizzes). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, process, and display your content only as needed to provide the Service to you. This license ends when you delete the content or close your account, except for content retained in encrypted backups (which are purged within 90 days) and any record we are legally required to keep.

You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights and consents to upload and process the content, and that doing so does not violate any law, third-party right, or institutional policy.

6. Microphone Usage

The Service may request microphone permission solely to record audio for transcription and AI-powered study-content generation. No audio is recorded without your explicit consent.

7. File Picker Usage

The Service may request access to device storage through a file picker so you can:

No files are accessed without your action.

8. AI-Generated Output Disclaimer

The Service uses third-party AI models to produce transcripts, summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and chat responses. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or fabricated ("hallucinated"). You should always verify important information from authoritative sources before relying on it.

The Service is a study aid, not a substitute for professional advice. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or other professional decisions.

9. Academic Integrity

You are responsible for using the Service in compliance with your institution's academic-integrity policies. Some uses of AI study tools may not be permitted in your courses or for graded assessments. Studr is intended as a study companion, not a tool for completing graded work that prohibits AI assistance.

10. Subscriptions, Billing, and Refunds

Studr offers a free tier with limits and one or more paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), managed via RevenueCat:

11. Authentication (Google / Apple)

The Service uses Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple to authenticate users and provision cloud-synced accounts. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data is shared.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party services that have their own terms. By using Studr, you also agree to the applicable terms of these providers where they apply to your usage:

13. Connectivity and Device Responsibility

Some functions require an active internet connection. The Service Provider is not responsible if features fail due to poor or no connectivity. If using the Service over mobile data or while roaming, you are responsible for any data charges incurred. You are also responsible for ensuring your device is sufficiently charged and functioning.

14. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Service Provider does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI output will be accurate.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service Provider shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, revenue, or opportunity, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. The Service Provider's total cumulative liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.

16. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Service Provider from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right or law (including recording, copyright, and academic-integrity laws).

17. Copyright (DMCA) Claims

We respect intellectual-property rights. If you believe content uploaded to the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@studr.app including: identification of the copyrighted work, the location of the allegedly infringing material, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act for the rights holder, and your physical or electronic signature. We will respond to valid notices in accordance with applicable law.

18. Updates & Termination

The Service may be updated periodically; you agree to install updates when provided. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may terminate or suspend your account for violation of these Terms, for legal reasons, or at our discretion with reasonable notice where practical. You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in-app or by emailing support@studr.app.

19. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date and, where appropriate, communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
